Getting Familiar With iOS 9 UX Design

iOS has witnessed too many changes in its design since it has come up with a number of updates in past 10 years. With upgradations of its OS, the need of upgrading UX also  gets bigger. In its 9th upgrade, the major change that Apple has brought forth is a new font named San Francisco. Some other new features include 3D Touch and multitasking.

While working on UX for Apple iOS, you might notice Stack Views that is a very handy tool for adaptive layout design which is very much required to run on various platforms. This is also important because they satisfy the basic UX design guidelines by Apple.

Primary Design Objective-The primary goal of every designer should be working on an interface that fits most of the display size. Efforts can be made to avail some extra space on the display to add more menus when required. Since, all the apps have to run on all the apple devices like iPad, iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and other similar Apple devices in iOS 9, so UX design must be analysed from different viewing perspective. This is essential as they vary in terms of screen size. Some of them have a landscape view and several other come with a portrait display view.

Impact of San Francisco Font-The fundamental font that has been incorporated in iOS 9 is San Francisco. Apple provides the built-in tracking system as iOS 9 automatically adjusts tracking value, text and display options. Some additional features include advanced text handling and typesetting that help in designing adaptive user interfaces.

Introduction of 3D Touch-Apple’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are featured with a powerful new dimension 3D touch interface useful in multidimensional view. This cutting-edge technology is so smart that it senses how deeply users press the touch display, by letting them explore more with games and other UI components.

App Icon Design-A beautiful and appealing app icon is very crucial for any app design. iOS 9 has brought some changes to icon design. App icons @1 are not supported anymore. Only @2 and @3 resolutions are to be designed for iOS 9. @2 resolutions can have twice the resolution based on the number of points, like in case of 60pt, 120px can be used and for @3 resolution, 180 pixels can be used for the same point.

Verdict: Apple brings too many changes to the UX design as it upgrades its OS every time. So, it’s necessary for every UX design expert to be aware of those changes. We at Oodles Studio have expertise in iOS 9 UI design. Our design team makes use of the latest designing trends to deliver the best of the iOS 9 designs to our clients.
