Color Combination

It is a well known fact that colors leave earnest impression on your web and graphic design projects. The more you brush the concepts of colors, the more addictive your design will be. Among a number of design challenges, the most challenging and confusing part can be choosing a Perfect Color Combination that represents the message of your brand while working on a distinctive base for the design.

Begin With The Color Wheel

The benefit of the color wheel is that it can help you study the colors and how differently hues relate themselves to one another. This is a practical way of determining whether a pair or combination of colors will put impact on one another in a homogeneous way. The importance lies in the fact that how you actually mix all the colors.

  • Analogous: Pick three colors adjacent to each other that exist on the color wheel
  • Complementary: These are the colors from the adjacent side of the color wheel
  • Split complementary: Pick a color and use it on either side of the contrasting colors from the color wheel
  • Double complementary: Comparatively, it is difficult to create and this concept makes use of a primary color and has impact from both sides of the  color on the color wheel
  • Monochromatic: Picking up single color and creating variations of that color
  • Triadic: It has three colors that are separated and are present at equal distance from one another

Impact Of Black White And Neutrals

These colors set the protocols for how everything else should work. These are often a part of the background and can also provide a warm and cool feel to the design and support the overall navigation and usability through typography and other directional cues.

Toning And Tinting

Some of the designers pick few colors directly from the color wheel and they just use them. This is what the concept of tints, tones and shades are.

  • Tint: Color and the white
  • Shade: Color and the  black
  • Tone: Color and the gray, or the black and the white

Color Tips

  • Use The Latest Trends With Caution
  • Avoid The Rainbow Color Pattern
  • Include Additional Color For The Text Elements
  • Consider Color As It Relates To The Actual Content
  • Stick To The Color Palette You Are Using

Bottom Line

When we talk about using colors, a lot of what that contributes to a great palette begins with you. Test if the colors fit into your design? Although it might seem like an easy task, but it really matters. In case you are the least bit unsure, think thoroughly about your options and look back to the basics of the theory of the colors and make changes to the individual color.
