Designing a website for your business needs a lot more than just the skills and knowledge. An expert designer takes care of every minute component that plays roles in determining the effectiveness of the design. The entire process of a website creation is a mix of website design and development. Once you are done with all the designing task, it is essential to perform some major checks to ensure the performance and functionality of the website. Here we list a few essential measures that will help you evaluate your design; be it a personal or a business website design, and make sure your website does not fail when it goes live.

Website Launch

1)  Verify Grammar, Spelling, and Punctuation

It might seem like a usual check, but let me tell you, a website with inappropriate grammars and spellings may portray poor impression on the visitors and have an adverse impact on its branding as well. So, before proceeding further, verify your content thoroughly and make sure there are no silly grammatical or spelling errors.

2) Verify Website Links

You must not assume that all the links on your website are functional. For an instance, it is likely that you might have forgotten to include “http://” to the links. Also, make sure that your logo actually links to the homepage.

3) Verify Forms And Other Fields

The objectives of verifying the forms are:

  • Whether Interface Can Be improved?
  • Whether Microcopies are appropriate?
  • Whether Forms Perform The Proposed Operation Like Sending User  Information etc.?

4) Verify Title And Meta Tags

Although it is not a new concept, however, it is very crucial for a majority of the sites having SEO needs to take care of various titles and meta data on their web pages. Having a distinct title and precise meta description lets your website rank higher in the search engine.

5) Perform Cross-Browser Compatibility Check

Although responsive web design has made it quite convenient to design multi-platforms websites that adapt themselves to various devices, however, some minute designing flaws might alter the viewing experience in different browsers.  So, you need to verify whether all the layouts and sliders perform in the same way even in different browsers.

6) Sitemaps Are Important

Having a sitemap with .xml file in your root directory enables the search engines to index your website’s content in their database. The advantage of having a sitemap is that the file points the crawlers to all the pages of your site. Additionally, XML sitemaps automatically create an abc.xml file for you. Once the file is created, upload it into the root directory of your site so that its location is www.abc.com/sitemap.xml.

A well-designed site demands absolute validation of every design phase. No matter how much you invest in your business or personal website, the development and design tasks incorporate numerous applications and validations that ensures how flawless your site will operate.
