High-fidelity Wireframes for Smart UX

Bhuvan Verma | 12th July 2019

As a UX designer, one needs to do research. For those who don’t have the idea what fidelity is? it is basically the details in the design structure and high fidelity means point by point level of detailed structure and functionality. They basically fill the gaps and missing parts in low fidelity designs and precisely speak about the product. A prototype is interaction design, closest to the final design.

High fidelity design is also known as High-fi or Hi-fi. Similarly, you might be thinking of lo-fi, What is the use lo-fi if we have hi-fi? Let’s me explain it more.

What’s the difference between Lo-fi and Hi-fi?

There is no contention here: that they do considerably more than the low-fidelity structure. Where low-fidelity wireframes use place holders, but its counterpart utilizes close to a real final design. Hi-fi designs are for UI (User interface) and UX (User Experience) both but in case of lo-fi we only take care of UX part only. Hi-fi designs require less effort from the client and stakeholder to understand the product.

What’s the main agenda of Hi-fi wireframes?

Before accepting the final structure, the designer, developer, and stakeholder should have a clear idea about what they are creating. It would give a clear idea to the client about what the final product will look like. Hi-fi design can be good and bad both.

Drawbacks of Hi-fi wireframing :

  1. Hi-fi designs is a time-consuming and costly affair for the client if he is in a hurry or needs a shorter deadline for the project.
  2. High-fidelity wireframes can be very confusing for the stakeholder. the Client may feel that the wireframe is a mockup of the project.
  3. If any updates are to be done, then it becomes harder for the designer to deliver the final designs on time.

Some top tools used for Hi-fi prototyping

  1. Adobe XD
  2. Axure
  3. InVision
  4. Proto.io
  5. Framer

Conclusion

  1. Everything depends on the client. If you and your stakeholder have sufficient time and budget plan, high-fidelity wireframes are the best approach. They may take additional time, and indeed, they can cost more for the client, however, in general, they will lead to a more happy client.
  2. If the stakeholder has a tight budget plan, then low-fidelity might be a good decision for you. To be honest, by far most of user experience designer use low-fidelity wireframes, except if generally mentioned from the client.

As a UX Designer,You should find the advantages and disadvantages before you begin your detailed wireframes.Throughout this process we try to put ourselves in the shoes of the user to have a better understanding. At last, it relies upon the project and the desires of your client whether to utilize high or low-fidelity wireframes.
