The tech giant Apple is all set to come up with its next generation flagship i.e. iPhone 7. The upgraded version of iPhone is expected to hit the global market by the end of the year 2016. However, it is likely to be launched in the month of September as this is the time when we have seen Apple introducing most of its devices
A Quick Highlight To iPhone 7
Although nothing has been officially confirmed so far, however, as per the rumors and some reliable sources, here is a quick specification of the new iPhone that can be considered in your upcoming mobile apps design.
- New True Tone displays similar to iPad Pro equipped with laser based proximity sensors for better response times
- The available variants are 32GB, 128GB and 256GB storage instead of 16GB, 32GB and 128GB
- 2x 12MP dual rear camera option limited to iPhone 7 Plus which can be accompanied with 1x wide angle and 1x telephoto lenses
- Improved ambient light sensors on cameras for better low light shots
- Camera flash LEDs are doubled from two to four having warm and cool colors
- 3.5mm headphone jack has been removed
- To compensate the 3.5 jack, a Lightning EarPod and a 3.5mm to headphone adaptor is included in the box
- IPX7 water resistance that can withstand splashes and full submersion for up to 30 minutes
- 2GB RAM for iPhone 7 and 3GB RAM for iPhone 7 Plus
- The next generation A10 chipset now sees a CPUs hit 2.45GHz clock speeds and enhanced performance gains
What Should Designer Care About?
As a designer, one should examine how the advancements in the new iPhone can be effectively incorporated in the mobile apps design applications. Unlike other forms of app design such as Android, iOS apps specifications vary in terms of design choices viz Flat or Material Design. As we know, the rendered pixels and physical pixels are all the same in iOS devices with certain exceptions like the retina HD display in iPhone 6 Plus. Since Iphone 6 had a screen with lower pixel resolution than what we are anticipating from iPhone 7, we need to keep in pace in order to follow iPhone 7 apps design that can have a new display size and the resolution.
